The simple elegance of this handmade trestle table is achieved through the angled stretcher being slightly tapered. This tapering is reflected in the shape of the table legs and also repeated in the bench detailing that was commissioned at the same time. The design of this table really makes the most of the pippy oak from which it is made. English forests produce the finest pippy oak in the world. It is called pippy oak because of the frequent small knots and knot clusters that pepper the board.
