The square-legged dining table refers to a type of dining table where the legs are square-shaped in cross-section, as opposed to round, tapered, or other forms of leg shapes. These tables are popular in both contemporary and traditional settings because their straight lines and simple geometry offer a timeless look that complements various interior styles.
This impressive looking handmade oak table is very simple in design but makes a huge statement. This particular one is 2.8m x 1.1m and has two leaves that are 500mm each so when fully extended gives you a huge 3.8m long.
The legs are 125mm square and extend right to the top of the table surface exposing its end grain which make a really interesting feature.
The timber used in the making of this table is a combination of kiln dried and air dried English oak, the original client really liked the simplicity of the design but also wanted the naturally dried look, hence the surface cracking in the legs. A character kiln dried oak was used for the table top.
